Peace! If you ask any average person what their biggest barriers are when it comes to creating a health and wellness routine, without a doubt they’ll tell you time and money. Undoubtedly, those are legitimate reasons why it may seem like a healthy lifestyle is out of your reach. No one is going to run all over the city in search of organic kale and maca root powder when the rent’s past due and they only have a 30 minute lunch break. That being said, taking steps to transform your health and wellness does not have to take a lot of time or money. Below, I’ve listed 60 inexpensive and free ways to make wellness a part of your daily life. I didn’t want to focus solely on weight loss or exercise tips. You are a whole person, so a holistic approach should be taken when improving your heath. This includes mind, body, and spirit. Do as few or as many as it takes to give you the push needed to make long-term sustainable changes. Sometimes all it takes is the first step.

1. Pause for a moment to take a few deep breaths and be present

2. Chat with a good friend for five minutes, face-to-face

3. Disconnect from all social media for 24 hours

4. Meditate for ten minutes

5. Take ten minutes to stretch your arms, legs, and torso

6. Hug your partner

7. Go a week without drinking soda

8. Take a walk around your neighborhood

9. Do 25 push-ups

The most important thing to remember is not to give up. I felt that I had tried every weight loss and wellness trick in the book and always quit because I didn’t have the results to show for it. It was when I finally decided to keep pushing and stop making excuses that I finally lost 40 pounds in just 4 months.  Again, wellness is about way more than just the number on the scale or what size dress you fit into. It’s about your mental state, and how your daily behaviors affect your mood, energy, spirit, and body. The best thing to do is to create a routine that you can definitely stick with. This may mean several weeks or months of easing into a more holistic lifestyle. There’s no need to jump all the way in with drastic changes if they won’t be sustainable.
